In 2001 during the inception of Howe Sound Music Festival, Madeline along with her parents were given the opportunity to visit Squamish. Her parents are Ed & Millie Hildebrand who back in 2001 were the Piano, Choral, Vocal & Band adjudicators. Eleven years later we are delighted to invite Madeline back to Squamish to perform IN CONCERT - this will be an exciting musical treat. Her program includes pieces by Samuel Barber , Franz Liszt, Franz Schubert , John Corigliano and Alexander Scriabin.

The HSPAA is very pleased to announce that five young performing arts students in Squamish were successful in receiving AME awards this year. The Howe Sound Secondary Scholarship was awarded to a graduating student who is pursuing post-secondary studies in theatre. The Joanna Schwarz Award went to an eleven-year old piano student who is working towards her RCM Grade 7. Two more awards went to young piano students for private lessons, & another award was granted to a dance student who attended the prestigious American Ballet Theatre Summer Intensive. Congratulations to these very committed students, & thank-you to our community for supporting Access Music Education.

The Howe Sound Performing Arts Association is pleased to offer financial assistance to Squamish students (kindergarten to grade 12) pursuing studies in the performing arts. AME awards are intended to help offset the cost of tuition for private music/dance/theatre lessons or summer theatre/dance/music programs. Bursaries are awarded based on the individual's commitment to their studies & financial need. Deadline for all applications is June 10, 2011. Click here for application form and more deatils.
